Network Admin

Job Description:
Assist in the implementation, troubleshooting, analyzing, and maintenance of all networks at all locations.

Responsibilities

Acquisition & Deployment:
Configure, test, and maintain LAN/WAN equipment and related services.
Identify, diagnose, and resolve network problems.
Evaluate and benchmark hardware and network performance.

Operational Management:
Assist in preparation of proposals and solution presentations.
Assist in creating specification documents.
Maintain and support company’s LAN/WAN environment.
Daily maintenance and problem resolution, operating system patches and software upgrades, and routine hardware configuration.
Participate in 24×7 on-call rotation.
Obtain and maintain required certifications for partnership with key vendors.

Required Experience

Formal Education & Certification:
Bachelor's Degree preferred
At least 1 year of experience in similar position.
At least a CCNA or equivalent work experience.

Knowledge & Experience:
Working knowledge of OSPF, BGP, VSS, IPv6, HSRP.
Juniper experience would be valuable
Operational Linux System Administration.
Performance tuning and benchmarking experience.
Cisco specific networking and familiarity with IOS.
perl scripting a plus
Hands-on experience implementing and administrating network devices, setting and maintaining policies and rights/security:
Cisco, HP, and Dell network switches.
Cisco routers.
Cisco VPN.
Arista/Force10/Brocade knowledge a plus
Wireless Access Points – bonus points for Xirrus
Demonstrable level of competence including:
A thorough understanding of the OSI network model, Ethernet, and TCP/IP networking.
A practical level of experience implementing and administrating common TCP/IP-based services, including DNS, DHCP, HTTP, FTP, SSH, SMTP, etc.
Working knowledge of common network monitoring and security utilities.
Troubleshooting focused on determining hardware vs. software, hardware vs. firmware, software vs. operating system, network vs. application/systems, and patterned vs. non-repeatable problems.
Ability to prioritize and multitask.
Willingness to learn new technologies and maintain industry knowledge.
Ability to lift, carry, and move all components of servers, network equipments, peripherals, and other ancillary equipment.
Active Listening – Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
Critical Thinking – Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Some database administration, preferably MYSQL.
System automation (including perl/bash scripting).
TCP/IP networking.
Excellent Troubleshooting skills.
