New Snapchat Resource Supports Teens in Abusive Relationships

Teen dating violence often goes unreported, but a new Snapchat account offers support for teens who feel like they cannot discuss abuse with peers, family, or authorities. When a teen sends a private message to the account “lovedoctordotin,” he or she is put in touch with trained counselors. Since abusive teens may snoop or demand access to partners’ phones, resource developers chose Snapchat as their platform. By deleting messages after a few seconds, the app gives teens a degree of privacy and, hopefully, encourages them to seek help.
