A South Yorkshire police officer who was found with 1,400 indecent images of children has been sacked by the force.

Lee Lucas, aged 39, of Prince of Wales Road, Manor, Sheffield, was dismissed for the child porn charges whilst ‘abusing his position’ to send thousands of inappropriate texts to ‘vulnerable’ victims.

Chief Constable David Crompton, branded the former officer ‘disgraceful’ in light of the offences.
Lucas, who was based at Maltby police station, pleaded guilty to eight counts of making indecent images of children and one of misconduct in the public office at a earlier hearing at Sheffield Crown Court. He will be sentenced on December 21.
