A former Catholic priest convicted of drugging and raping a 12-year-old Victorian student is set to learn his fate for assaulting another boy during a summer camp decades ago.
Michael Aulsebrook, 63, has admitted to indecently assaulting the boy, aged 11 or 12, during a summer holiday camp he was managing while a Salesian brother in the mid-1980s.
The victim had been jumping on a trampoline when his shorts began chaffing, so Aulsebrook took him to the first aid office, asked the boy to remove his shorts, rubbed his genitals and digitally penetrated him.
Aulsebrook also applied cream to the boy, saying it would stop the rash, despite him not having one, complimented the child’s genitals, patted his head and told him not to say anything.
It took about 30 years for the victim to speak up about the abuse, which occurred in either 1985 or 1986.
Aulsebrook went onto became a priest and eventually admitted to abusing the boy, who was not his only target.
He was first jailed in 2011 for drugging and sexually abusing a 12-year-old boy while a teacher at Sunbury’s Salesian College Rupertswood boarding school.
Aulsebrook left the Salesian order in 2004 and worked in the federal public service until he was sentenced for the rape.
He is due to learn his punishment for the latest offences on Monday.
