Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Teams across the country are Australia’s frontline in tackling, disrupting and prosecuting this insidious industry that causes significant harm to vulnerable children.
The WA-JACET, which arrested and charged the man, comprises officers from the Australian Federal Police and WA Police.
News of the man’s arrest comes just days after Australia’s eSafety commissioner advised parents to bring children’s online interactions into open areas of the home, as reports of digital abuse and cyber-bullying spiked while kids spent more time online.
Online harm has risen by 40 per cent during the COVID-19 pandemic, including a 21 per cent rise in youth cyber-bullying and 86 per cent spike in image-based abuse and sexting.
The man will face Armadale Magistrates Court on May 22.
