Detectives investigating the abduction of three brothers have arrested a man in Ilford, bringing the total number of arrests to 13.

Officers are continuing to search for their father, Imran Safi, who is believed to have kidnapped them.

People who spot Imran Safi are advised to avoid him and call police

They arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of conspiracy to abduct a child at a residential address in Ilford on Saturday, 29 August. He has since been released under investigation.

The four men arrested in connection with the crime in Ilford last Friday have been released and are due to return on bail to a south London police station in early September. All of them are thought to be known to Imran Safi.

“Whilst this is a fast-paced and developing investigation, we still need more information from the public to help us locate the children and their father,” said Chief Superintendent Dave Stringer.

“I would really urge anyone from the Croydon and Ilford areas to think long and hard about whether they saw these children, or their father, on the evening of Thursday, 20 August and possibly the morning of Friday, 21 August.”

Police have received more than 40 calls from members of the public since they first issued an appeal for assistance on Thursday, 27 August. Officers are now following up the calls and working all hours of the day to bring the children home safely.

Detectives are asking anyone who believes they have seen Imran Safi and his children since Thursday, 20 August to contact police immediately through their investigation control room on 07942599374.

Alternatively, to stay completely anonymous, you can contact the charity Crimestoppers on freephone 0800 555 111 or fill in their simple and secure anonymous online form here.

Anyone who spots Imran Safi is advised not to approach him but instead to contact police immediately on 999.
