DuBois, PA – Middle schoolers flocked to dance the night away on Friday at the annual WPAL teen Valentine’s Day dance in DuBois! The Western Pennsylvania Police Athletic League says the event welcomed more than 330 local middle school students from the area.
The dance took place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14 in Galaxy Hall above the WPAL Fitness Center.
The children enjoyed tunes from DJ Chuck Sallows, a Photobooth from Mad Maxx, and Pizza donated by ARC Restaurants, owners of the local Pizza Hut. House of Weddings set the mood with beautiful lighting and decorations, and owner of Galaxy Hall, Aaron Beatty pulled out all of the stops, with games, snacks, and a night to remember for our local young people.
Beatty said, the WPAL will continue to work hard to bring fun events to the area to help keep local kids out of trouble by giving them alternatives to enjoy themselves and be educated in the process.
Sponsors and volunteers came together to make this vision a reality and they did not disappoint. Parents have reached out with warm comments and a demand for more activities.

The Western Pennsylvania Police Athletic League is a 501(c)3 not for profit organization that offers free membership to local youth ages 8-18, free membership for law enforcement officials, active and veteran military members, fire fighters, EMS, and all other first responders.
They also offer low-cost, 24-hour access membership fees for adults.
The gym is an outlet to provide local youth a place to prevent them from using drugs or participating in illegal activity. Recently, they’ve started the After-School Fit Club for kids to enjoy a snack and a workout.
This also helps to strengthen first responder-community relationships.
