According to police, the defendant posted a threat on his Facebook page indicating he would be involved in a school shooting at the school, which was placed on lockdown as a result.
The defendant was taken into custody Monday morning and has been charged with making a terroristic threat and his scheduled to be arraigned later Monday.
The Troy School District also addressed social media rumors of a threat on Sunday evening. No class activity was disrupted on Monday, though additional safety measures were put in place.
Many parents are concerned after they said they found out about the threat through the district’s social media page.
One mother said she kept her daughter home Monday because of her concerns. She believes the school didn’t do enough to inform parents about these threats and said the enhanced security is good to see, but still isn’t enough to ease her worries.
