MANASSAS, VA — A 17-year old Manassas boy is facing multiple charges after he and a group of others attacked a student at Stonewall Jackson High School in Manassas, police say. While the boy’s name was not released, he is facing charges of assault and battery, trespassing on school grounds, possession of a weapon on school grounds and gang participation.

On Sept. 20 just before 2 p.m., a school resource officer received word about the attack at the high school located at 8820 Rixlew Ln. According to police, an 18-year-old male student was approached by four known individuals while participating in a class held outside on the athletic field.

During the encounter, police said the suspects struck and kicked the victim multiple times before fleeing on foot. School staff notified the school resource officer immediately and requested rescue response for the student. The student was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers who responded to the attack were able to locate three individuals walking from the school who matched the descriptions of the suspects. The officers detained the suspects and Gang Unit Detectives responded to assume the investigation.

Following the investigation, it was determined the 17-year-old suspect was a student SJHS. He was arrested, and police say detectives were able to identify him as a member of 18th Street, a criminal street gang.

The investigation continues as detectives seek information about additional suspects involved in the incident.
