ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police and military authorities arrested, Saturday night two members of the Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) who were considered principal suspects in the kidnapping of a public elementary school teacher in this city last year.
Police Regional Office for Zamboanga Peninsula (PRO-9) Director Police Brig Gen Froilan F. Quidilla identified the alleged ASG members as Erma Sahibol, alias Emz, and Kimar Juram, alias Monica.
Sahibol and Juram were ASG members said to be operating under ASG Sub Leader Idang Susukan, and were tagged as responsible in the kidnapping of Rosina Singua, 58, a teacher at the Culianan Elementary School in Zone 5, Barangay Culianan in this city.
She was kidnapped in front of the Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Barangay Walled City in Jolo, Sulu on September 27, 2019 after she attended mass.
Police and military authorities rescued Singua in a hotel in downtown Jolo, Sulu last October 15, 2019 after her family reportedly paid an undisclosed amount of ransom to the kidnappers.
Quidilla said the government forces collared Sahibol and Juram at about 9:15 p.m. Saturday at their residence in Sitio Malandi, Barangay Patalon, Zamboanga City, by virtue of a warrant of arrest for kidnapping and serious illegal detention.
