According to a report by Odisha TV, the students of class 9 were forced to sit on the floor and the teacher took classes on the almirah due to the unavailability of a blackboard.
The shocking visuals have also proved that the schools in the state are lagging far behind and some schools don’t even have the basic infrastructure required for teaching. The ‘smart classroom’ aims to deliver education in an innovative manner, and is way behind thought in the Binka Boy’s High School.

The school was placed under the Odisha government’s 5T initiative, and a workshop was recently organised for Rs 45 lakh. But the way the students are made to study has raised serious concerns about how the initiative will actually be carried out.
Block Education Officer Ganesh Kisan said: “I am not sure how the class would function without a blackboard. Actually, the BDO was supposed to handle the civil work at the school. I’ll investigate the situation without a doubt.”
According to sources of Odisha TV, 1026 schools were converted into smart schools in Odisha during the initiative’s first phase in 2021. The government asserted that students are becoming more motivated to attend such innovative schools with amenities comparable to those found in private schools.
