#parent | #kids | USD 251 Board of Education meeting brings decisions over air purification systems | #Education

USD 251 took action to improve air quality and student safety at its most recent board of education meeting.

With ongoing concerns about COVID-19, the district is taking action to help reduce the spread and improve air quality by implementing iWave air purification systems in both Northern Heights High School and NLC Elementary School. These systems will cost the district just over $17,000 which will be paid for out of SPARK funds provided to the district through the county.

USD 251 Superintendent Bob Blair says now more than ever the district should be aware of air quality in its schools.

The board also discussed enrollment. According to Blair the school enrollment equivalency rate only dropped by half a student. Blair says this means funding for next year should remain relatively the same.

Finally, the board discussed the potential for land acquisition for a new preschool building. No action was taken but potential locations were discussed. More discussions are expected to take place in the coming months.
