Take a close look at these photos, and then take a close look at your bank and credit card statements. A woman is going from store to store in Berks County, using stolen card numbers to buy merchandise, police said Thursday. Investigators on the case said they are seeking the public’s help in putting an end to the illegal shopping spree, with the hope that someone can identify the woman. The investigation began earlier this month when Cumru Township residents reported that their bank card numbers had been compromised and used to buy items at various merchants in Berks County. Investigators were able to obtain surveillance images of the unauthorized transactions and the woman, they said, is responsible for them. The stolen card numbers were apparently encoded onto fraudulent access device cards and then used to complete the transactions, police said. Detectives have not been able to determine how and where the numbers were compromised. Anyone with information about the case, including the woman’s identity, is asked to call Crime Alert Berks County at 877-373-9913.
