Former Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies’ Channel 4 drama Cucumber (which has an E4 sister piece Banana) is thrilling viewers with its hilarious and tender take on modern gay life in Manchester. As there will be no Cucumber 2, he is currently penning a drama about the 1980s AIDS crisis called The Boys. Scheduled for 2016, it will tell the story of a group of gay men during the 1980s Aids epidemic and will include a character who is a semi-fictional version of himself. But after that? He wants to tackle so-called Sextortion gangs – the ruthless people in places like Morocco and the Philippines who hack into computers and film people (often teenagers) doing compromising things and then blackmail them about the contents. Davies was particularly horrified about a case of a Scottish teenager who killed himself after being blackmailed. “I am going to write that one soon,” he said. “Scene One: the Philippines”. This drama is being slated for 2017 and is understood to be in development with Channel 4. source: http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2015-01-26/russell-t-davies-to-turns-his-attention-to-sextortion-gangs-with-new-drama
