Shoppers Beware: Tips on Safe Cyber Monday Shopping

Some shoppers don’t like to deal with all the hustle and bustle that Black Friday and Small Business Saturday bring, so they prefer to find their steals and deals on Cyber Monday.  The annual shopping holiday falls on November 30th this year. Shoppers who do a lot of online shopping are also at a greater risk for scams. According to the National Retail Federation, shoppers expect to do almost half of their holiday shopping online this year. For those planning to do your Christmas shopping from the comfort of your home, they need to be careful where they click and what they buy. To help shoppers avoid scams, viruses, and other holiday hoax’s the Better Business Bureauhas some tips: Protect your computer – Your computer should always have the most recent updates installed for spam filters, anti-virus and anti-spyware software and a secure firewall. Stick to trustworthy websites – Research the seller’s reputation and track record for customer satisfaction at bbb.org. Look for BBB’s seal and other widely-recognized “trust marks” on retailer websites.
