Rackspace is seeking a talented Sr. Front End developer to help build a world class interface for customers to manage their IT infrastructure. As a software developer at Rackspace, you will be working in a high-energy team, writing great software by using the best engineering practices in the industry today. Responsibilities:
– Write thick client front-end code in Javascript, HTML, and CSS
– Build new features and fix bugs
– Write quality, clean, maintainable code using engineering best practices (unit testing, source control, continuous integration, automation, design patterns, etc.)
– Work with other software engineers, product managers, user experience designer, and operations engineers on a daily basis.
– Mentor and guide less experienced team members
– Provide Fanatical support of all production software on which you currently work
Job Requirements
The ideal candidate will have the following:
– BS in Computer Science or related field with 5+ years practical engineering experience in building large-scale web-based applications
– Advanced-level knowledge of HTML and CSS
– Advanced-level knowledge of with Object Oriented Javascript, DOM manipulation, Ajax, JSON, Event Handling
– Intermediate-level knowledge of Object Oriented Programming
– Intermediate-level experience with cross-browser compatibility and browser degradation strategies
– Experience with at least one Ajax/Javascript framework such as Google Closure Library, Dojo, jQuery
– Disciplined approach to testing and quality engineering (PHPUnit, YUITest, etc.)
– Excellent verbal and written communications
Top candidates may also have some of the following:
– Good sense of what is required of a great user interface and experience
– Familiarity or experience with Services Oriented Architecture and RESTful web services development
– Experience with design patterns (especially frontend design patterns and anti-patterns)
– Experience with Python and Django
– Familiarity or experience with Agile engineering practices (test driven development, continuous integration and pair programming, etc.)
– Good understanding of web technologies (HTTP, Apache, MySQL, HTTP Proxies) and familiarity with Unix/Linux
