Technical Intern 2 (SW Development)

BAE Systems in Washington DC is seeking a summer Intern seeking either a Computer Science or Information System degree. This internship is for a 3 month period (without benefits or relocation offered). Students must be registered in and currently attending a 4-year university and are eligible for participation in this program after completion of their Freshman year.

Interns will have the opportunity to develop technical skills and expand their industry knowledge through hands on experience and are included in the regular daily activities within their respective functional department (i.e. staff meetings, customer meetings (as appropriate), and technical discussions that would pertain to their area of expertise).

Duties are based on discipline and are established under the guidelines of the hiring department. Students will explore career options while gaining exposure within their discipline.

Depending on level, the intern well be required to work on special projects with entry through moderate level complexity under direct supervision of management, which may involve the application of technical, accounting, or budgeting knowledge or similar knowledge/skills pertinent to the function involved.

For this position, the successful candidate will be required to elicit analyze requirements, document design, and implement test small web-based applications. This position will also be required to implement automated unit tests (using JUnit).

TO ENSURE YOUR RESUME IS CONSIDERED YOU MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Registered in and current attendance at an accredited 4-year university with, at minimum, Junior standing (must have successfully completed Junior year)
  • Basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a relevant field of specialization
  • Ability to work well with cross-functional teams
  • Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
  • Personal computer skills
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and ability to work independently
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Required Courses or Experience: Java, SQL, Object Oriented Analysis Design

HIGHLY DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Previous work experience desired but not required
  • Familiarity with Struts, Hibernate, JUnit, HTML
