UAE teams up with US to fight cyber crime

The UAE Ministry of Justice and the US Department of Justice have held a symposium on cybercrimes and cybercriminal evidence. A large number of chiefs of courts, judges from federal and local courts took part in the two-day symposium which was held under the patronage of Sultan bin Saeed Al Badi, Minister of Justice. In opening remarks, Director of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Justice, Judge Abdul Rehman Murad Al Balushi, said that it is necessary to find effective solutions and come up with preventive and deterrent countermeasures to counter the dangerous spread of cybercrimes threatening the economies, stability and security of states. Al Balushi said that comprehensive international cooperation is needed to investigate these type of crimes as well as the pursuant cross-border crackdown on cybercriminals. He emphasised that the ministry spares no effort to tap the latest international legal and judicial practices and learn about the latest international relevant developments.
